Design and Technology
GCSE Design and Technology builds upon the knowledge learned about the subject in previous years at the school. The main teaching for the first two terms of Y10 concentrates on a range of short projects such as creative graphics, metal working, product modelling, ergonomics and smart materials. These areas are taught in a practical way and are integrated with a given design brief so boys can see how to design with technology as well as understanding the theory behind it. At the start of the spring term of Y10, work begins on their final project, a theme is set by the exam board. They are asked to solve a design and technology problem or respond to a design opportunity. The project consists of a design folio and the final prototype.
