One GCSE student highlighted the critical importance of Geography by writing: “I particularly enjoy Geography because it applies to everything in everyday life and it gives you a lot more information about the world around you and how it works. You start by understanding how landscape and people influence a place. It’s all about understanding our future world”.
It forms an excellent foundation for all sixth form courses and a wide range of careers from accountancy to medicine, as well as the more obvious such as urban planning and architecture.
A field work investigation encourages questioning about our environment, encouraging essential skills such as problem solving, decision making, synthesizing ideas, identifying issues and communicating findings individually and as part of a team.
The course involves a compulsory field trip for controlled assessment to the Norfolk coast. There is also an optional field course to the South of France or to the south west of the USA.
