As a GCSE subject, Latin remains very highly regarded by employers and University Admissions Officers. A good grade at GCSE in Latin reads very well on an academic record and reflects a keen, able and intuitive mind.
The Latin GCSE course builds upon the work covered over the previous three years in school, developing understanding of basic Latin grammar and reaching a standard which enables girls to read the work of Latin authors in the original language.
The Classics trip to Greece or Italy is one of the departmental highlights. Girls currently in Y9 would be offered the opportunity to go on the trip to Italy, Easter 2015. Pupils are encouraged to broaden their Classical education on a trip such as this.
