Stamford School

Recently Completed Developments

SJS Year 6 Block

The new dedicated Year 6 block at Stamford Junior School opened in September 2015. The new building has four classrooms, a meeting room, recreational space, changing facilities and a large room for both science and design technology which can be used by all pupils. Having a dedicated Year 6 space allows teachers the flexibility to inter-weave group activities and other pursuits which encourage ‘Independent Learning, Intellectual Curiosity’ (ILIC) – the ethos central to the School’s academic provision.

Performing Arts Centre

PAC2014 saw the opening of the Llowarch Performing Arts Centre. Comprising of a dedicated teaching and performance space for drama, the refurbished Oswald Elliott Hall (a versatile space for larger productions and performances) and the updated SES Music School.

Partially funded by generous donations to the Campaign for Stamford, the Performing Arts Centre provides state of the art facilities and a new venue for Stamford.

 SHS Atrium & Home Economics

Over the summer of 2014, the Home Economics rooms were updated at Stamford High School and an Atrium was built on the playground off Park Lane, between the Ancaster building and the main block. This produced a space where pupils and adults can congregate.

SES Sports Centre

The £6.1m facility was officially opened by Rt. Hon. Lord Coe in November 2012. The gleaming facility houses a state of the art fitness suite (including 40 pieces of Life Fitness equipment such as the Elevation Engage cardiovascular series, as well as Signature Strength and Hammer Strength equipment), 25m indoor swimming pool, gymnasium and a hospitality area. There is also a large south-facing spectator terrace covered by an overhanging roof, giving supporters of sports teams a prime view of the main sports pitches.

 Early Years Reception Classes

In September 2013 the stables building at Stamford Junior School was refurbished to cater for a new Early Years block adjacent to Stamford Nursery School. The facility includes two reception classrooms, which contain state-of-the-art ICT facilities, including iPads and interactive touch-screens, as well as a safe and secure courtyard in which the children can learn through adventurous play.

Stamford Nursery School

Stamford Junior Schools’ purpose built Nursery building was completed in 2010. Set in a wooded area of the School’s extensive grounds, the nursery has a landscaped garden and a play area for imaginative learning. There is also a covered area so that outdoor play can take place throughout the year.

 Research & Learning Centre

The Research and Learning Centre at Stamford School includes a fiction and non-fiction library, state of the art computer suites and the glass atrium building.
