Stamford School enjoys its very own courts, including one with a glass back, and this enables large numbers of pupils to play this dynamic and energetic sport.
It is a popular option and is therefore offered at all age levels throughout the games curriculum. Pupils receive specialist coaching through the games programme, on Saturday mornings and during team practice time outside of school. Boys may also elect to join the Stamford Squash Club, which uses the school courts during the evenings and on Sundays.
The standard of competition is high, and Stamford School has regularly produced quality players who have played at club and county level and even higher.
Training occurs during the Autumn Term, with the majority of fixtures taking place in the Spring. There are internal and house competitions alongside block team fixtures against other strong schools such as Oakham, Bedford, Oundle and Rugby. Students at the top of the playing pyramid are also given the opportunity to test themselves by playing in the team competition in the Peterborough & District Men’s League.
